Today, we gather with hearts full of love and gratitude to honor the life of my beloved father, Late Pa Orelope Jimoh Laka. Even though Baba left us a decade ago, his spirit remains a guiding light in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, his laughter, and the love he so freely shared are etched in our memories forever.
Growing up under his care was a journey filled with tender affection and a deep sense of belonging. Baba welcomed everyone—whether stranger or kin—with open arms and a kind heart. His laughter was contagious, his mischief endearing, and his love was the kind that knew no boundaries.
It’s been 10 years since his passing, yet the legacy of Baba’s remarkable 101 years on earth continues to inspire us. God’s grace has carried the family, Friends and well wishes through, and the lessons he left behind remain our guiding principles. To emulate such a selfless and compassionate leader is a duty we must all strive to fulfill.
Baba was not just a man of the people; he was a bridge-builder. He treated everyone with respect and dignity, never flaunting his rights but instead offering a hand of friendship to all who came to his door. A great politician and a mentor to many, he instilled values of hard work, integrity, and unity in all who crossed his path.
I remember his joyful moments—playing with us as children, sharing roasted plantain and groundnuts, and teaching us through his actions the meaning of fairness and love. Baba believed in equality and saw the potential in everyone.
He didn’t just help shape Alimosho; he gave it a heart and soul. Today, the community stands tall because of the seeds he planted. Oh, how great you are, Pa Orelope Jimoh Laka. Your legacy lives on, and your spirit continues to guide us.
May your soul rest in perfect peace, Baba. You are deeply missed but forever cherished.
