In the wake of Evangelist Tope Alabi's refusal to attend or perform at Liz Anjorin’s surprise birthday celebration, reportedly due to loyalty or personal convictions...it is worth asking the classic Christian question: What would Jesus do? 🤔

From a biblical standpoint, Jesus consistently modeled love, impartiality, and the ability to rise above personal grievances or alliances. One of the most powerful illustrations of this is found in Luke 7:36-50, when Jesus dined at the house of Simon the Pharisee and still extended grace to the "sinful woman" who anointed His feet.

He did not shun the moment because of people’s opinions or allegiances. Jesus prioritized ministry, compassion, and the greater good over social politics.

Similarly, in Matthew 5:44, Jesus commands, “But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” If this is the expectation for how believers should treat enemies, how much more should we treat with kindness those whose only "offense" is being associated with someone we may not like or agree with?

For a gospel minister like Aunty Tope, I believe the calling is beyond music..it is a MINISTRY. But what do I know 🤔

To turn down the opportunity to minister, especially at a surprise event not orchestrated by the celebrant herself, may seem more political than spiritual - my opinion though.

Paul reminds us in Romans 12:18, “If it is possible, as long as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” Walking in love, especially in public ministry, should rise above loyalties or social divisions.

On another note, if Liz Anjorin or anyone involved in the event is running a business, be it events, PR, or management, I feel it is "unwise" to entangle commercial dealings with personal loyalties.

I also believe Proverbs 11:1 is clear, “The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.”

I believe business should be conducted with fairness, integrity, and focus on value, and not on unresolved beefs between unrelated parties.

Allowing someone else’s conflict to dictate your business choices can cloud judgment and foster unnecessary divisions.

I sha believe Jesus would likely show up, not necessarily to celebrate in ways that conflict with His calling, but to demonstrate love, bridge gaps, and use the moment to shine light.

Believers and businesspeople alike would do well to follow.

His example. Sometimes, ministry and maturity require us to rise above the noise.

But what do I know? 🤔
